Our programmes
We work with partners across government, industry and academia to provide the expertise and knowledge to improve chemical and bio-measurements.
Current Programmes
Our Chemical and Biological Metrology programme, funded by DSIT, supports the UK's current chemical and bio-measurement infrastructure and addresses emerging measurement needs to support innovation.
Our capabilities support the Government Chemist programme, funded by DSIT. The Government Chemist acts as an independent arbitrator lab to resolve scientific disputes and provide advice to government in the food and feed sectors alongside developing new capabilities to address future needs.
Our partnership programme with NHS England Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, allow us to engage directly healthcare provides and provide the measurement support they need.
Our Analysis for Innovators (A4I) partnership programme allows us to engage directly with industry to address their measurement challenges and support increased productivity and growth. To read more about how the NML can help your business click here
Our involvement in the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR) programme helps address grand challenges in areas such as health, industry, energy and environment. We provide leadership and expertise to help foster innovative European chemical and bio-measurement research.
As an active member of CAMS (the Community for Analytical Measurement Science), the NML supports industry-led initiatives aimed at promoting world-class analytical measurement science training, research and innovation by bringing together a network of industrial and academic partners with interests in these fields.
We are currently working with UKRI BBSRC-funded centres across the community to embed metrology and standards into engineering biology. Our expertise is helping to create more reliable engineering biology technologies to improve wellbeing and de-risk innovation. Find out more here.
